Food Snob Feature

Last night I was fortunate enough to be able to taste one of Food Snob's cook book recipes.
The recipe was for Sweet Potato Soup.
I decided to make a little photo journal of the experience. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! :)

First stop the local all-natural store Mother's.

What's in the mystery pot?

Okay, I'll show you. It's the beginnings of a great Sweet Potato Soup

While the soup was cooking I had some time (and some hungry parents with me) so I whipped up some mango shakes.

My mom and I enjoyed our shakes with her brand new roses in the background.

Dinner is ON! The soup turned out gorgeous and not to mention delicious.

My parents just ate it all up. Which makes me happy because they're omni and they were being adventurous trying a vegan meal :)

See? not a DROP left

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This recipe definately has a stamp of approval from myself and my parents. I accidentally bought too much of the ingredients so I'll be making it tonight so Richard can taste it too.
The biggest reason I like this recipe is: It's quick and easy. I'm what you call a "lazy" chef. I dont want to sit in the kitchen for a long time and I don't want to have a Master's degree to understand how to make a recipe.
So let me close by saying mMmMmmMMmmmmMmmmMmM too Food Snob's soup and THANK YOU for letting me give it a whirl :)

I knew it was vegetarian, I didn't know it was vegan! Still, it was extremely delicious.

I hope you can come cook for us again.

Teddy, I can't decide whether I like the picture of your parents eating the soup or the picture of the empty pot better! I might need to hit you up for the empty pot picture sometime in the future . . . !! :) I'm glad it was a hit!

One of my friends, who doesn't cook much, was over at my house and watched me make this soup last weekend. She raved and raved about it while she was eating it; then she said, "all you did was cook some stuff in oil, add some broth and boil it, and then puree it? That's not that hard." DUH! This is why I'm writing the cookbook! Most cooking is not that hard. :)

Thanks again for testing! (Did you use 1/2 tsp or a whole tsp of the curry paste?)

Wow Teddy! You've been busy. The soup looked great and don't you love it when your omni parents eat your food and like it. I really do. Kudos to Catherine for inventing a great recipe.
Your friend's birthday looked like a lot of fun. I'm not much of a bowler either. My mom and dad both belonged to leagues when they were working and my mom (retired) recently joined one on the military base near where she lives. About a month ago she told me she had a 298 game!
That cheesecake is such a great idea. A different flavour in every slice?! How cool.
BTW, how did Richard like the soup.

I have made sweet potato soup, in the fall (late September)... our produce season here is short and we only get one. Anyway I love it too, interesting flavor add with the curry.

What a sweet mom to add to your blog.

I answered your carob question.

Tanya- haha my mom will love that you said we are twins
Pinknest- mango shakes are easy, just frozen or fresh mango, 1/2 can coconut milk and 1 banana.
Vicki- Mother's is the BEST.
Carrie- a 298. That is crazy!
