Last night Richard and I went out to dinner at one of my favorite mexican eateries (we would have gone to Mama Testa's but it's 100 miles away).
We drove to Laguna Beach and stopped at this whole in the wall that I have been eating at since high school- Taco Loco.
Taco Loco is like hippie/healthy mexican food. It is an omni restaurant. They are famous for their Blackened Tofu Mushroom Burger. I've yet to meet a person who doesn't like it.
It was too dark and I was too hungry to snap a picture of it. The burger definitely hit the spot; it was what I needed.
Don't forget to add this place to your list of great restaurants to eat at in Southern CA.

The burger sounds great.. One of these days, I'm sure I'll get out to CA... since my mom lives in the LA area along with most of her side of the family.

I've been reading your blog lately and I just wanted to introduce myself. I grew up in Costa Mesa and now live in Humboldt County. My mom lives in Laguna and I just visited her a few weeks ago. Of course I had to go to Taco Loco and the blackened mushroom and tofu burger was better than I remember! I always vow to get new things but I never do.

Yum, we have a place in NYC (a few of them, actually) called San Loco. Youcan get veggie and vegan options there... That burger sounds great.
i want to try all the mexican places that "loco" in their name.

Mm...that does sound good. i'm loving' chipotles...they're pretty dang good too!

LOVE THAT BURGER, sounds sooooooooooo good - gotta get there someday. Teddy... yikes, OK, i STILL haven't been to Mama Testa's! I haven't been up to Hillcrest in a while but next time i'm there... i'm THERE!!!
Have you always lived in California? I assume so since your fam is in the area. I'm kinda jealous, but then again, I LOVE Minnesota so I should just sit still and not be jealous. But still...nice beaches, warm weather, good eateries. Yeah, I'm still a bit jealous.
