Miso trouble

The other week I decided to make a new purchase- Miso Paste and last night I got my first opportunity to use it.

I added my own Nori and some Udon Noodles. I usually like to add brown rice to make it more of meal but we're out right now. It was pretty tasty if you ask me. I like making it at home better than when I go out because I like LOTS of Nori in my soup and they never seem to put enough in for me.

On a completely different note I went board game crazy at Target the other day and here's one of my purchase

TROUBLE

Richard and I played a one round but need to return it because they gypped us out of a blue piece.

As you can see, I was the Red player and I won. And I'm only posting that we got the game at all because I won. Haha

Back to the food

Do you make your own Miso soup ever? What brand do you use? Is there anything special you add to your Miso? or Any Miso recipes?

I have never tried Miso. But have heard about all the health benefits. I would need someone to make it for me first. It is too new for me to experiment with. I would definately mess it up ;)

You crack me up. I used to have that TROUBLE game. Gave everyone in my family a great, big headache. Hee hee. I loved it though. Way to win, Teddy!

I make miso soup from a box. I'm lazy and not good at following recipes. Short attention span theater! :o)

The soup 'n' udon would be so great! Tofu me, baby!

Hey I have read your blog a few times, and think it's great, one of my fave things to do with miso is make tomato, miso, tahini sauce, its fantastic over baked potatoes, on a pizza instead of cheese, or even with pasta or rice, it's a pretty basic recipe too which is nice;
1 jar of tomato sauce (the one i get usually has some italian herbs and garlic, but you could add your own seasonings)
About 1 tbs of miso
About 2 tbs of tahini
Just heat it over the stove until it's all mixed together, make sure the miso breaks up other wise you can end up with globby bits in you sauce, trust me it's really good!!

Hi!! Thanks for your comments on my blog. :) You're too sweet!

Oh, I love miso soup but I rarely make it myself. I love some nori and tiny tofu squares in it. Udon sounds great in it too. I find it too salty most of the time, so I may have to try to make it myself and water it down some! I do like the taste though.

Trouble!!! I love that game! *pop-pop* Lol!! My daughter and I were just talking about Trouble yesterday and how we love it. We have been addicted to Parcheesi these days. We play at least once per day. :P I think it's time to digout our game of Trouble though!!

Morning folks! (720AM here and i'm awake :P)

Pinknest- EVERYONE loves gettin' into trouble! or should

Annie- miso's great. taste kind of "fishy" or salty sometimes but it's definitely vegan. and really easy to make. I'm SURE you could do it! I mean I can and if I can you can ;)

Kleo- I never thanked you for your kinds words this weekend while richard was away. but thank you!! I used to make miso from a box too but it I can't seem to find some without Bento (fish flakes) in it. what kind do you use? I'm all for easiness. but honestly making it yourself is easy too!

vicki- Gaming is a great idea for family night. I'll bring it up this week and see what my fam thinks. they'll probably want to play cards. my family always plays Rummy together

Claire

I make miso soup sometimes...I've tried to recreate the soup they serve at one of the Asian-fusion restaurants here in Seattle. They use light miso in a huge bowl with udon noodles marinated tofu, and lots of fresh veggies (broccoli, carrots, baby bok choy) just lightly cooked in the steaming hot broth. It's really delicious.

BTW, thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog!

I just bought my first tub of miso paste this week for the miso gravy in the VwaV recipe I posted recently on my blog. I got it at the Mitsuwa market (I love that store, $.99 for 1 lb of tofu!), I don’t know what brand it is off the top of my head but it has a recipe for miso soup on the lid. I’ll definitely be giving it a try soon and I’ll be sure to post the results. I’m not sure I’ve ever had nori. Do you just slice the sheets into strips before you add to the soup?

I haven't seen Trouble since I was a kid. {Well, actually I have, bit not the board game kind)

I also love miso. I also find it works well as a substitute in recipes that call for anchovies.

I love miso soup.. I make mine really spicy.. and flavorful.. and depending on my mood, either a full meal with tofu and noodles or just a nice brothy type soup.

I always add a tiny bit of toasted sesame oil, garlic, ginger, chiles, cilantro, lemon or lime juice, seaweed and various veggies/tofu..

If I'm sick, I make a broth with miso, ginger, garlic, hot peppers and seaweed... and top it off with scallions.

I love miso added to dished that use cheese too, because it adds a great flavor that reminds me of cheese..

Hi there, Teddy!

This was from one of my June posts:

"Garlic, ginger, tofu, water and white (or red) miso boiled with whatever veggies you have on hand."

I've just started using miso in some recipes, but have never made miso soup. I don't even actually know if I've ever eaten it!
As for pop-o-matic Trouble...that I've seen and played many a time! I was a bit more partial to Operation. Remember that one?
