Soup Adventure

And so here it is!
I don't have the book next to me and I'm having trouble remembering the name of the recipe.
I wanted a hearty, filling recipe and I ended up trying a Fall season, potato-based soup. It may have been called creamy white fall vegetables. (eekk sorry for forgetting the name!)
It had potatoes, corn, peppers, onions, and CUMIN. Mmm, I adore that spice and don't use it enough.
I had a minor detour during cooking, seeing as I nearly chopped off the tip of my finger off while cutting the potatoes up. OUCH
But that's not the bad part. The BAD part was that in my state of panic, I ran to turn the stove off and inadvertently put it on full blast instead. I didn't notice till the house was covered in a grayish hue.
After recovering I sifted threw and trashed the burnt bits. I somehow managed to salvage it. Richard and I both agreed it was a great hearty soup and bagged up a bunch of extras to put in our freezer.
I really hadn't intended it to be THAT much of an adventure. :) It sure does make for good story telling though.
Hope you're all having a great weekend!

Do you have any adventurous cooking stories?

Teddy - Oh My Gosh! I'm glad you are ok and that your kitchen didn't burn down. Once, an ex of mine had just bought a new stove. We thought we would break it in with a batch of chocolate chip cookies. The first couples of minute of baking smelled like cookie heaven. Then, there was this smoky, burnt plastic smell. We had forgotten to take off the plastic wrap covering the bottom rack. EEKS.

LOL, I had a similiar problem with glueing a pizza to the pizza stone, like Megan.

Glad you were able to salvage the soup.

Hope you are feeling better. I'm a big fan of Emer'gen-C. Whenever I start to feel sick, I have a packet of two of that. Usually works like a charm!
