Anniversary Gift

The flowers that Richard got for me. Aren't they HUGE?!

We went to a Thai restaurant called Royal Thai Cuisine. It was too dark to snap any pictures besides the one above (that was on the ceiling of the entrance). VERY good Thai food. Not too spicy but spicy enough to give it a kick.

Richard got me a pestle and mortar for our anniversary gift. I LOVE it and it's HUGE; however, I have never used one before.

Any suggestions on what to make with it?(well besides pesto)

Teddy

PS
The okra rainbow dish from two days ago gets a BIG thumbs up. My mom wants to give it a try too!

I never would have thought of using a morter and pestle for pesto, I use mine to grind herbs for cooking (using the seed is fresher and more flavorful than buying it already ground, however it's pretty time consuming).

Happy anniversery!

Happy anniversary! You guys look so cute... Those flowers are gorgeous--what a lovely gift! And a mortar and pestle is something to be excited about--I've never used one either, but I really want one just to make grinding things up easier. It would be good to use for spices! :)

I've never seen such a pretty mortar and pestle set! Unfortunatley, all I ever do with mine is grind herbs.

Congrats to you both!! Those flowers are amazing. I love the beautiful mortar and pestle also! Looks like a piece of art! I've never used one, but I read that the flavors are more rich from crushing them and they are really great for Thai foods. I found this site that has some recipes that can be veganized:
