Last night I was roasting some portabella mushrooms in my oven to go with my gnocchi for dinner and it happened. I opened the oven to check the mushrooms and though 'hmm that's odd; it doesn't seem very hot in here' then it hit me- my oven is NOT working.
It's official; Richard and I messed with it for a few minutes and realized we knew NOTHING about fixing an oven or even diagnosing one.
Looks like I'll be making a call to my apartment manager but I know he's not there on Saturdays. Wish me luck in getting in fixed!
What is funny is that last week I was thinking about how Leslie hasn't had an oven in a long time and I thanked my lucky stars that mine was working alright. I definately jinxed myself. Dang it! : )
In other news, because the oven is broken, I'm seriously considering getting a George Foreman Grill.

So sorry to hear about the oven breaking. I know that sometimes when I don't feel like heating up the whole house in this summer heat, I'll just use my toaster over. Yeah it's smaller and not quite the same, but it does the trick without heating up the whole house. Good luck gettting your apt. manager to come in. Meanwhile I hope you can make some great non-oven dishes.

Bummer. Hope you find a solution soon. Look on the bright side--at least for a few days during this heat, you won't need to turn on the oven.

I actually asked Dori about her George grill. She posted about hers. Since there is only you and Richard, a small one might do the trick. I'm contemplating buying one for Jim and I. If you end up getting one, send me some feedback.
OMG, I would be in big trouble without my oven.
