I know that without a doubt, if I were to have more cats, I would definitely adopt an older cat from a shelter. The statistics are so high for them being put to sleep since everyone goes for the kittens. Some of these cats are in shelters because their owners moved and left them! Ooooh, I wish I had room for more!

Please keep us updated on your search. Some lucky kitty will love you forever for this!

~CandiCandihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05133689964430988260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26968011.post-1155190778686329402006-08-09T23:19:00.000-07:002006-08-09T23:19:00.000-07:00Like Geraldine, I would suggest an older cat. Kittens are cuter and more fun at first, but older cats are less likely to find a home.

When you get your cat, I'd say keep him/her indoors. There are so many potential ways the cat can get hurt if you let them out.Jody from VegChichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06905561189922286609noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26968011.post-1155160125000036162006-08-09T14:48:00.000-07:002006-08-09T14:48:00.000-07:00oooh boy. i am 100% a dog person so i'm out. try...oooh boy. i am 100% a dog person so i'm out.

try the internet! there's GOBS of info on the right cat for you...and pre-congrats! You're going to adopt a kitty!
Jim and I have been toying with the idea of getting Simon a sister. We're not ready right now, but it's something we're thinking about. I've been looking at the Jack Russell rescue site and the local shelter has on-line info of animals available to adopt. I just want them all!!
It's great that you're doing research to get ready. Then you know what to expect. Sadly, many don't and that's why these lovely animals end up in the shelter. I can't wait to hear what you've decided and if you get a kitty, can't wait for pictures!!Carrie™https://www.blogger.com/profile/03326682699231189746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26968011.post-1155139014087538432006-08-09T08:56:00.000-07:002006-08-09T08:56:00.000-07:00Sorry I don't have a website to direct you to, but...Sorry I don't have a website to direct you to, but I did want to say - How exciting!! I had the same decision to make when I got Tasha, she was so lonely with me being out so much, bringing Mitzi home changed everything. Tasha perked up so much, she was happy and very content to have a new pal.

I would definitely go with a older cat, they need homes so much, most times don't get adopted. It will take a while for the two cats to 'bond' and that might mean keeping them separated when you aren't home, for just a while. I was fortunate, my cats 'took' to each other, quite quickly, usually a day or two and all was well. But they do need to go through their own special 'rituals' checking out territory, getting to know each other....I would check out some holisitic cat sites, Im sure they would also help.

Headbonks to the dear Abbey. I feel exactly the same way about food, plus I’m a vegetarian too! Your blog just looks great, I will definitely check back.
I have as well just started a foodblog, TastingLife. Really hope you'll check it sometimes!

About the kitty, maybe I can be a help...
I have a cat (Romeo) now for 4 years, we got him when he was just 8 weeks old and because I live on the second flour of a flat, Romeo doesn’t go outside. (but he doesn’t know better...)
I really recommend taking a younger one; they are so cute and you’ll have this way the best bond I think...there is nothing like it! :)
We also paid for our cat, maybe its nonsense but I think this way you are a bit more secured he’s coming from a good home, plus he had had already a few shots...
Well, I really don’t know what to write anymore, if you’ve got a question, just ask or visit my blog and leave a comment! :)Juliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00714437453184046893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26968011.post-1155132049449870312006-08-09T07:00:00.000-07:002006-08-09T07:00:00.000-07:00Sorry, can't help.
